ATM etiquette?

I had a doctors appointment this morning and conveniently located in the building were 2 Bank One ATMs. I had no cash whatsoever, and therefore no hope of escaping the parking garage, so I sauntered up to the ATM kiosk. There were 2 ATMs next to each other flanked by the hallway on the right, and a Hollywood Video on the left. I walk up to the closest one and as I get there, I see a guy coming to use the ATM. So, to be nice, I slide over to the one to the left.

However, the one on the left, which is hard to see from the hallway, was out of order. So I go to slide back to the right as I was the first one to the ATMs, the guy cut in front of me and proceeded to make about 837 transactions. I was there first. So much for trying to be nice and polite.
