Update to the shuffle problem

It did it again! Same songs, same order this morning. Here is how it goes:

1. Plays the end of whatever song was finishing when I shut the player off last night after getting home.
2. Incense and Peppermints - from the Austin Powers Soundtrack
3. It's Gonna Be Me - N'SYNC (shut up)
4. All Around the World - ATC
5. Bring Me Some Water - Melissa Ethridge
6. House of Pain - Faster Pussycats
7. Break Your Heart - Barenaked Ladies
8. Personal Jesus - Depeche Mode
9. Stranger in My House - Tamia
10. Old Apartment - Barenaked Ladies
11. A Letter - Joe Cocker
12. Love is a Red Dress - from the Pulp Fiction Soundtrack
13. Laid - James
14. Hands Clean - Alanis Morisette
15. Romeo and Juliet - Dire Straights

And I LIKE these songs. There is a reason I put them on my player in the first place. But EVERY TIME I turn it on, this is what it plays. In this order. With the "shuffle" feature on.

I guess my player likes these songs too.

Funny Random Horoscope thought -- today my beneficial colors are: Mother of Pearl and Violet
What am I wearing you ask? My violet shirt with the ivory cuffs, plus my pearl necklace and earrings. Freaky.

Two complaints about my commute

Well, actually I have about 1,000,000 complaints about my commute, but since we don't have that kind of time, I'll limit myself to just 2.

Complaint #1 -- my MP3 "shuffle" feature doesn't shuffle all that well. It decides it is going to play the songs in the order it chooses, but that order is the exact same EVERY TIME. I get through about 12 songs each way, and it always is the same damn 12 songs in the same order. No matter how many times I skip to the next song, the pattern is EXACTLY the same. And yes, I do have more than 12 songs on my player. Maddening!

Complaint #2 -- the "helpful" traffic indicator sign near the Cumberland exit on the Kennedy. No matter what time of day, what day of the week, what weather conditions are present, the sign reads "14 minutes to 290/53, 29 minutes to the Elgin Toll". Every day. The times never change. There could be a 250 car pileup on the freeway between that spot and the Elgin Toll, and yet it will still only take 29 minutes to get there. Maddening!

The new me

Well, it is 2006 and many things are slated to happen this year. I have several weddings to attend, most notably my sister's, where I will be the maid of honor. In order to not be the Maid of Dis-honor, I am working on the new and improved Preppy Sailor in 2006. My first order of business is to cut down on the drinking thing. And since everyone knows how much I love a good glass of wine, I need to do it in baby steps.

So, in order to trim my waistline, while increasing my wallet size, I have decided to stop drinking until the SuperBowl. It is only 1 month, and I am pretty sure I can do it. Unless the Patriots lose before the SuperBowl -- then all bets are off.
