Three Date Rule
I know I have been out of the dating world for, well, pretty much never been in the dating world, but there are a few generally accepted timelines I am aware of. The standard "3 date rule" generally applies to when a girl should sleep with some dude, but I am wondering about a 3 date rule of my own.
So, as the only person (Joan) who reads this blog knows, I have been out with this guy, lets call him Boat Boy a few times. We met on match, had a few dates (which I thought went pretty well), exchanged emails, text messages, and the like. And now, nothing. Nada. No contact. I'm wondering if after 3 dates it is appropriate to just go into the "Ignore and hope they go away" phase or do I deserve the "I'm breaking up with you despite the fact that we weren't really dating in the first place" conversation.
I'm a big proponent of the "ignore and hope they go away" as I did with Ted, otherwise known as the most boring man on the face of the earth (although I do feel a little guilty about that one). It was a dull date, and I was probably very rude for not sending a follow up email saying thanks but no thanks, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. On the other hand, once you've been out a few times, and most contact has been initiated by Boat Boy, I think I deserve a little bit of closure even if it is just the "yeah, this isn't working for me".
I was tired of waiting for him to contact me back, so I emailed him yesterday to see if he wanted to grab dinner this week, but haven't heard a peep. And it really is starting to piss me off. Bastard.
